Description: La Plage was inspired by a painting with the same title (The Beach) by Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992), in particular her use of lines, open space, and contrast. The algorithm created a regularly spaced grid of squares with 35 rows of 70 columns, with center coordinates used to index a smoothed random number matrix that controlled the rotation and size of each square. Square sizes and rotations were also scaled based on y-coordinates, while jittered color selection was influenced by x-coordinates.
